EQ5 "Springy" Round Robin Results

Five IFQ members recently participated in a Round Robin event designed to explore the creative options in Electric Quilt v.5 software. The pictures you see here are the results of their creative efforts.

Each participant designed the center medallion for their quilt, which set the tone for the whole project. Once the centers were created the electronic quilt file was e-mailed to the next participant in the rotation. The recipient added whatever she felt would enhance the medallion center. This could have been a border, blocks, or even appliqué. Once again the electronic file was sent to the next person in rotation, who added more to the quilt, and so on. At the end of the rotation the quilt file returned to the originator. Those final results are what you view here. Pretty impressive, isn't it?

Anna Scott
, of UK - Threads of Time FQ, started with her original angel and frame block. She named her quilt "Victorian Angel".

She said "What these girls did to this quilt is just fantastic. I had never thought of using a crazy patch around one of my Victorian designs, and I do a lot of them. And, then the fans as a border seem to add even more to it.
The last two borders are just great. I love what was done here and my partners in this round robin were very much up to the challenge. Thanks, all!"

Joany Orsi
, of V - Bobbin Belles FQ, made the center medallion for her "Ladybug Swirl" quilt using spring time colors. This set the theme for the rounds to come.

1st border - Cheryl Quigley
2nd border - Anna Scott
3rd border - Suzanne L
4th border - Shari Masson

Shari said of her #4 border, "Think of these as Loopy Canada Geese, Joany - trying to fly north for the summer"

Suzanne L
, of V - LadyBugs FQ, chose an 8-pointed star layout to begin her quilt, titled "Bizarre Lone Star".

"I chose blue and yellow for my central block colors because I feel it is a very vibrant combination - they are both good colors, and they seem to energize one another when they are together. I also like stars and on-point blocks because they are very dynamic looking."

"I have not decided whether I will sew this quilt. I really don't have time at the moment to start it, but there are aspects of it that I really like. I was particularly impressed with how well the prairie-point border looked with the curves of the earlier rounds. I would never have thought to use triangle points, but they look great! I will definitely keep that combination in mind for future projects."

Cheryl Quigley, of V - Bobbin Belles FQ, chose a wreath appliqué festooned with butterflies as the starting point for her quilt. It is named "Roses and Butterflies", and certainly captures the essence of Spring.

Shari Masson, of V - Bobbin Belles FQ, used a four-patch as the center medallion of her quilt, titled "Butterflies".

The four patches making up the center are embellished with floral and butterfly appliqués. Interesting angles and curves form the surrounding borders in this colorful piece.

It's just amazing how much variety can come from one project theme. Great job, ladies, and we're sure we'll see more wonderful things coming from such talent!
